The "Real" Shadow Point

I grew up in a part of San Diego, California called Point Loma. "The Point" (as locals call it) greatly resembles the imaginary Shadow Point, except for the malevolent phantom. Point Loma is a beautiful place. It's a peninsula - a long finger of land that juts out into the water, with the Pacific ocean on one side and San Diego Bay on the other. There are spectacular views of the city and the sea. Like its fictional counterpart, the Point is indeed home to top secret Navy labs, an old lighthouse, a new(er) lighthouse, Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, and a long and storied history featuring Native Americans, European explorers, WWII gun emplacements and much, much more.
